Yikim Day..
Years back during in the 90s, there was this channel called Eastzone in IRC.
Now Eastzone was set up by a group of neighbourhood friends. We roped in everyone we knew whom was active online back then into the channel. And the main core group of us was known as YiKimers(义金儿) back then.
Yes people, we are a bloody group of XiangXiang Ah Bengs if you wondering about how much it sound like a streetgang name.
Annually there is the YiKim Day, just a simple gathering for us brudders - no girlfriends non spouses around.
A day for every fellow Yikimers to hangout,dine, hoot each another and reminces on the number of years we know each another. And we have relationships going back two decades in the fellowship.
Now as YikimDay is derived from the total sum of every YiKimers’ birthdays, noone can be excused unless one is not in the country. And this year, we finished up the drinks in record time. Not sure is dices game or the lure of playing mahjong thereafter is more evil.
Happy Yikim Day, my brudders and may we have many more Yikim Days to follow…
