Conditioning
The irresistible power of conditioning is graphically illustrated by Boston Celtics great Larry Bird. When he was hired to star in a soft-drink commercial, the script called for him to miss a shot.
He made nine baskets in a row before he could bring himself to miss! He had been so conditioned to put that ball through the hoop that it took all of his concentration and a good deal of practice to flub even one. No doubt there is a part of Larry Bird’s brain that is a virtual neural superhighway to the sequence of motions required to sink a basket.
Know that we can condition any behavior if we do it with enough repetition and emotional intensity.
Recently people around me are turning emo. I think they have conditioned themselves in a wrong direction..
